We are the UK’s largest gas distribution network, bringing gas to 11 million homes and businesses. We manage a network of more than 82,000 miles of pipes, most of them underground, which transport gas throughout the North West, West Midlands, East Midlands, East of England and North London.
The scheme involves replacing 3,154 metres of ageing gas pipe over a 17-week period
Gas pipes buried deep under Rampton Road in Willingham are due to be replaced by engineers from Cadent - the UK’s largest gas distribution network.
Cadent is replacing 150 metres of ageing metal mains in Cambridge Road, Hitchin, with the work also affecting the junction with Millard Way
Work gets underway on Monday 27 July and is expected to last nine weeks, finishing on Friday 25 September
We’ve developed a project to upgrade approximately 1,700 metres of ageing metal gas pipes along The Pound from the junction of Maidenhead Road to the junction of School Lane, including Terry’s Lane from 27 July until 4 October 2026.
