Identifying individual needs and joining up services
Helping people understand the support available and connecting them with the right support through partnerships and joined up services.
While we made incredible progress in RIIO-2 to support communities in need across our networks, we need to continue this into RIIO-3 and beyond.
During RIIO-3 we’re looking to support even more customers than we did in RIIO-2. This is possible due to the firm foundations established in RIIO-2, including the creation of our Services Beyond the Meter training centre and the investment in our Mobile Advice Centres, and through the lessons learnt from each project we invested in. All of this approach is also underpinned with valuable and essential partnerships with experts and specialist in supporting customers that need it most.
Through data, local knowledge and customer insights, we have been able to form a growing understanding of where we’re able to make the most impactful contribution to the challenges our customers are facing on a daily basis.
Throughout RIIO-3 we will look to increase the positive impact of our Centres for Warmth and Mobile Advice Centres, maintain our gas safety and carbon monoxide awareness schemes, extend our Services Beyond the Meter programme and continue to work with numerous trusted partners, both locally and nationally.
Life can be challenging, especially for those facing financial difficulties, social isolation, health issues or other circumstances that make them more vulnerable. That's why we're continuing to invest in programmes that provide practical help, advice and support to those who need it most.
Whether it's helping someone access the Priority Services Register, raising awareness of the dangers of carbon monoxide, or connecting people with specialist support services, our goal is simple: to make everyday life a little easier and safer.
We know that the best support comes from organisations that understand the communities they serve. That's why we work with charities, community groups and local partners to reach people who may otherwise go unnoticed. Together, we can provide tailored support to help households stay warm, manage their energy costs and access vital wellbeing support that can make a real difference to everyday life.
Because we believe that everyone deserves to feel safe at home, supported when they need help, and confident about the future, every project we support is designed to deliver real benefits for people and communities.
By listening to customers, learning from our partners and sharing best practice across the industry, we're continually looking for ways to improve the support we provide.
Whether it's helping someone stay warm at home, understand the risks of carbon monoxide, or access additional support during difficult circumstances, our goal is simple: to make sure every customer can benefit from the support they need to thrive.
Our commitments and targets continue to underpin our core business purpose, ‘to keep people warm, while protecting the planet’.
Building on the work from RIIO-2 we will continue to focus on the same four core areas (our pillars), and all our projects will contribute towards the delivery of these commitments, making positive differences to the lives of our customers.

Helping people understand the support available and connecting them with the right support through partnerships and joined up services.

Educating customers to recognise the dangers of carbon monoxide, know how to stay safe, and have the protection they need.

To help customers overcome the root causes of fuel poverty so they can live in warm, safe homes with financial resilience.

To ensure no vulnerable customer is left without safe heating, hot water or cooking by delivering practical engineering solutions alongside personalised welfare support.
